They are fully compliant with the new International Maritime Organisation (IMO) directives on 'clean exhaust' measures that will be in force from 2022 on-wards. 'Tier 4' is the standard that must be achieved for all new power plants employed in newly built/launched vessels of over 500GT and greater than 1500 kW of power. The specialized ceramic exhaust filters in conjunction with the exhaust after burners ensure that the exhaust emissions are compliant with future rules and regulations now. And are the cleanest of any +500GT vessel afloat.
